Universal Spray Co. was founded by Gerald Obraske in 1961. Gerald was a pioneer in the ceiling texturing industry, developing an entire system for applying the products mechanically instead of the laborious hand-troweling which was then the norm.

In 1975, Gerald started Universal Drywall Co., a partnership, with his son, Michael (Mike) Obraske. Mike had been working in the industry with his father since the late 60’s as a sander, finisher and spray man until he left for the Marine Corps. Upon his return, they started this sister-company to complement the work Universal Spray Co. had been doing for years now.

Early in the 1980’s, Mike acquired Gerald’s share of Universal Drywall Co. followed by his purchase of Universal Spray Co. in 1989. The two companies were combined and became Universal Spray & Drywall, Inc. which has been owned and operated by Mike since that time.

Today, Universal Spray & drywall, Inc. is a complete drywall company offering all types of services. We are proudly a veteran-founded business – Our founder, Gerald Obraske, was a WWII Navy Veteran and Mike Obraske served in the Marine Corps. Today, Mike is a fully retired part-owner, leaving the company in the care of his son Keith and daughter Crystal.
